The Loremaster

So yee'd like to know more about Reunicon, would ya?
Well sit down a spell and listen...

Textbook Battle
One of the greatest evils in the history of Reunicon was Baron Korvax and his castle on a lower plane of Hell (RCon 4). In that epic, an ancient wizard and his apprentice journeyed with a paladin lord and his squire to retreive a magical staff that would save their land from evil. Immediately upon entry to the stinking tunnels under the Baron's towers, one of the parties ran into a gibbering, screaming 8' tall demodand. The apprentice wizard (played by Peter) started flipping through his spellbook frantic to effect the beast. The wizened master, Draxx Dreybourne (played by Ethan), calmly waved his student to peace, saying, "Not to worry. Stand back and let Lord Ptarlis take care of it." Striding forward, Ptarlis Venkkarion, the Paladin Lord, (played by Torrey) swung mightily at the horrendous snarling foe with his blade Vindicator (he rolled a natural 20, invoking the sword's special power). The blade lodged in the beast, screaming its own cry of battle. Abruptly, both screams ended as a wave of white spread across the hellish flesh, turning the creature to solid ice. (It failed the magic resistance check.) Lord Ptarlis sheaths the blade, turned to his squire Densro (played by Dalida) and intoned wisely, "That is how it is done, Squire."

      Rockfish
Up in the Halls of Valhalla (RCon V) lived many heroes. All shapes and sizes, they were. One of them was an earth elemental whose true name our kind can't pronounce, but everyone called him "Rockfish". Before he got that name, people called him 'Rock'. The 'fish' part came from a bet. See, when the big guy first came to Valhalla, he admired Thor greatly, listening attently to all tales about him. One day, in a tall tale of a great ocean, someone joked about 'Rock' swimming alongside Thor. Everyone laughed, but Rock resonded in his quiet, gruff voice, "I can swim." After the stunned silence, laughter broke out again and the tale continued. The next day, Thor himself came up to Rock, laughing at what he'd heard in the tale of swimming. When Rock admitted it was no joke, Thor bet he couldn't. So that afternoon everyone trooped down to the lake to watch the Rock sink. Once on the shore, Rock opened up a large odd-shaped bag. In a few powerful breaths, the bag was inflated. In a few strides, the Rock was waist deep in water, and was soon floating with the waterwings, kicking powerfully towards the far shore. On the other side, Thor met him, and proclaimed, "I've never met a Rock could swim as a fish!".

(In pre-Reunicon V activity, many people claimed to be Rockfish, but the one-and-only was played by Matt1, who played the part well.)

(A reference to 'Captain Rockfish' was found in a shipwreck of RCon VI.)

    The Nullifier
The Nullifier is by far the most famous of all Reunicon Artifacts. It is a black hockey-puck shaped disc that creates a very powerful anti-magic sphere with a 10' diameter. No magic can penetrate its shell, although there is a box that may contain its effects.
    • Its first appearance was in RCon II, where it was one of the items on the Hunt list. Both teams retrieved it on the Fire Island of Enrico Palazzo where it was guarded by guys with nonmgical laser devices.
    • In another time and space, RCon III, the same object was known as The Force of Nature. In that drama, the disc was central to the plot, as the Small Folk were to use it to destroy the magic that had destroyed their land.
    • For a brief time, the object, known as "Nurgle's Mighty Cancellor" was in the vaults of Baron Korvax (RCon IV), but it wasn't found.
    • It was later found by the Einhar of RCon V in the possession of a band of Githyanki pirates, who called it the Mage Killer. The rouges used it to attack, destroy, and plunder unsuspecting wizards, who were at a disadvantage against it. The Einhar used the disc to counteract the magical weight of Thor's Hammer.
    • Plans for a Nullifier-type device known as the Anti-Magic Sphere might have been found in the treasure room of Grish in RCon VI.
    • The character background for Alabama Joans in RCon VII made mention of a black disc known as the Magithwart. It was said this device might lay in the temple, but it was never found.
    • In RCon VIII, the original Nullifier again reappeared, as the setting was again the original Nullifier world. However, this time the device had been misappropriated from the Great Vault by the body of Hammerhan, controlled by the essence of Tallik Ni'Ventenor (from RCon IV). He needed the device to contain the magical essence of the Dark Lord, while he stole his lich body from the prison which held it.

(A hockey-puck symbol also marked the 'friends' table at Mike and Jodi's wedding.)
